Powershift Automatic and Semi-Automatic transmissions- ECU Software controlled gear and direction selection
Powershift transmissions feature electronically controlled hydraulic valves that initiate clutch actuated gear shifts on all gears and directional changes.
The clutches are actuated under the control of hydraulic valves that are used to direct pressurised transmission oil to clutch packs.
The reduction of oil pressure causes the clutches to release to allow the gear to be switched to the next selected gear to take over the drive from the previous drive gear.
Once achieved, the oil pressure is returned to the clutch pack to lock the clutches back in drive.
Electronic software monitors the speed of the transmission and operates the valves to make gears selection changes at the optimum speed for the machine.
The transmission software is also capable of being overridden by the operator via a cab operated switch.
