The Compact transmission is a versatile design it is used to power Back Hoe Loaders, Telescopic Handlers, Site Dumpers and in industrial applications.
The Compact Plus is a manual select, stick shift transmission. It has four forward and four reverse gears with a fully synchronised selection design. A range of helical gear ratios are available to match and maximize engine and machine performance. It has a maximum engine power range of up to 90kWatts (120Hp) and is rated for torque forces of up to 800Nm (600 lb ft.) The transmission features SAE 3 converter housing. Forward and reverse can be selected on the move for shuttling operations.
The transmission features helical gears. Helical gears have a higher load capacity over straight cut gears. The contact area of the individual helical tooth is longer and up to three helical gear teeth are in contact at any one time. This increases the surface area of contact across the gears, compared to a single tooth in the straight cut gear leads to a reduction in the concentration of load, reducing noise and extending gear life. The transmission features tapered roller bearings on all gear shafts designed to counter the axial forces that are inherent in a helical gear system. The transmission has a steel case to maintain alignment.
The transmission is designed to be used with an oil filled torque converter providing the link between the engine output and the transmission. Gear selections are made manually using a gear synchroniser which brings the selected gears to matching speeds to allow the change. Changes between directions made on the move are supported by hydro-mechanical valves.
The compact has both co-axial or non-co-axial options. The Co-axial variant features a drive shaft that passes through the transmission to allow the engine to drive a hydraulic pump of 2 or 4 bolt SAE C design remote of the transmission drive. This increasing efficiency and improving safety allowing the hydraulic pump to be drive even if the vehicle is stationary. The non-co-axial variant can be fitted with disc and pad type park brake. Both variants can be fitted with temperature, pressure and speed sensors. The Compact Plus is available in 2 wheel drive, selectable 2 to 4 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive permanent variants with optional SAE 1410, 1480 yoke and disc brake options.

The Bevel Drive is a product designed to be used with the Compact Plus non co-axial transmission. The Bevel Drive gives a 90° turn to the direction of the engine output. This allows the engine to be positioned at 90° to the axles. The Bevel Drive is fitted to the engine and the transmission is fitted to the SAE 3 torque converter housing on the Bevel. The bevel orientates the transmissions outputs to be aligned with axles inputs. The gain is vehicle that can be designed with a narrow wheel base.
